Mia Christo­pher is an artist based in San Fran­cisco, CA. Her port­fo­lio is com­prised of mono print­ing, paint­ings with gouache, and even some embroidery.

Look­ing at her work, I feel like I’m look­ing at fam­ily por­traits. They are not nor­mal fam­ily por­traits, how­ever — they are humans with ani­mal heads, humans on ani­mal bod­ies. It reminds me a bit of Egypt­ian art– bod­ies with ani­mal heads to depict gods. While the con­tent is not exactly rem­i­nis­cence of the super­nat­ural, it enters that realm for me.

I enjoy all the stack­ing in her work. Peo­ple, small ani­mals, and col­ors are all ris­ing towards the sky (or some­thing equally as vast, like the top of the page).

She sells her work on a few dif­fer­ent web­sites, includ­ing Lit­tle Paper Planes and Soci­ety 6. Since my land­lady won’t let me have a cat, I might have to buy one of Mia’s prints to quell my no-cat blues!
