Sandra Dieckmann is an illustrator living in London. Her work pairs photography with painting, and her portfolio employs a number of different techniques and compositions.

Sandra’s work is often times a mixture of human and animals, and not just co-mingling. She super imposes human faces onto zebras and regularly adds ears to any creature, man or beast. I look at her collages and get the feeling that she works unrestrained, allowing the choices in color and construct to be used as long as it helps out the piece. While some work with a limited color palette, Sandra works this way if she chooses to. The experience of viewing her work is very liberating.

In addition to her illustration, Sandra has began a new project. She has created an illustration game called If I Was You. The idea is that each week, a different illustrator will will be invited to create a response to the previously featured artist in illustrating their answer to the question: “If I was you, I…” and they fill in the blanks from there. The interesting part of this the current illustration probably won’t know the illustrator whom they are responding to. This will really show the impressions that people make. Not only that, but their work as well. What does your work say about you, how does that influence how someone’s opinion of you, a total stranger?
