Sometimes, it’s helpful to have a basic understanding of a language to help better connect with the art you’re viewing. Other times, the themes seem so universal, and the images so imaginative, that you don’t need context. You can enjoy them as is. The work of Pablo Boffelli does this for me. Pablo, from Rosario, Argentina creates images that are a mixture of consciousness and imagination.

While there isn’t just one, single character present through Pablo’s work, there is a form that is mimic and reinvented throughout. This character, in between a ghoul and a yeti, for the most part seems to be a curious fellow trying to make sense of his surroundings. Sometimes, they a places that we might recognize, while other times they seem like we’re entering a mind overstimulated. Either way, we have a tour guide so I think we’re okay.
