There are certain shapes that appeal to me, as I’m sure there are certain shapes/imagery/colors that appeal to you as well. It’s innate. Naomi Kolsteren has created a place where what I love exists!
Scalloped edges, tiny triangles, and other geometric shapes make up the environments by Naomi, a Belgium-based artist. She utilizes lighting, photographs, and papers to create precious spaces that exist in an almost idyllic setting.
Lighting is used advantageously. Depending on its source, she sometimes lights objects in such a way that it creates an extension of the tangible pieces. Naomi uses the edges of paper to create lines within each constructed shape. Not only does it point to the hand-built aspect of her work, but is a compositional element that helps to guide the journey.
