Cutting paper, artist Simone Lourenco creates intricate systems and designs from a sheet of paper, layering and developing what looks like living organisms.

I’m fond of the type of cuts I see in her work. She snips little pieces of the paper that are delicate fringe, and also makes gaping cuts that reveal colors and shapes beneath them. Her construction of them is also interesting — things are folded together, tucked inside one another, tied together — all with the use of paper.

  1. Wow. Those are really incredible!

  2. holy moly! these are really different and exciting. i like that they feel kind of raw and unfinished. papercutting can be all about precision and technique.
