Leah Goren Reveals How to Keep a Sketchbook in Her Skillshare Class (Sponsored)

keeping a sketchbook by leah goren for skillshare

It’s no secret that learning new things helps keep your brain sharp. In art, it’s especially valuable to take time and gain a new skill. Doing so, at the very least, can improve the way you work. But more importantly, it can change the way you think about your art. Luckily, you can learn new things from the comfort of your own home. That’s where Skillshare comes in. They’ve got 15,000 online classes available for you to take from people at the top of their field. I recently enrolled in a class that I was eager to try: Illustration & Inspiration: Keeping a Sketchbook by Leah Goren. You too can try this class with 2 free months of Skillshare Premium.

A Monthly Subscription Box for Note Takers and Thank-You Card Writers

Papergang from OhhDeer

Do you subscribe to any monthly subscription boxes? I often hesitate signing up for them—I’m afraid of accumulating too much stuff I won’t ever use. But one product I can’t get enough of is stationary! I’m a firm believer in writing things down and hand-written thank you notes. So, even if I don’t scribble in a notebook right away, I know I’ll eventually use it.

Papergang is a monthly subscription box from Ohh Deer, an online purveyor of awesome illustrated products. They sent me one of their boxes recently and I got to see what it’s all about. Basically, it’s everything I use over the course of a given month: an On Point pencil (I never write notes in pen); three pocket-sized notebooks, a clipboard, two blank greeting cards, an illustrative print, and postcard featuring the current month.

I’ve already put one of the notebooks and pencil to good use, and if you’re a stationary lover, I’m sure you’ll find a way to incorporate these types of objects into your everyday routine. Better yet, you get something new each month that includes paper products. When you subscribe, you’ll never get a repeat box and almost all the product will be exclusive to Papergang before it goes on sale in the Ohh Deer shop. Go here to claim your box for this month!

Minted Helps Fill Your Home with Beautiful Art

All this week, I’ve been vacationing in St. George, Utah, and taking in the natural beauty of the west. I love the outdoors! So, when Minted contacted me about their art marketplace, I immediately began perusing the “flora and fauna” style. It can seem daunting to sift through tons of great artwork. But, it was easy with their filters tool. You can look at pieces according to style, color, type, and more. Here are some of my favorite pieces!

In addition to artwork, Minted sells party decor (think bunting, table runners, etc) and stationary of all kinds. They even have a new collection of wedding invitations, and some of them include gold foil. This one by alethea and ruth is especially pretty.

Friday Round Up: Mother’s Day with UncommonGoods

ll_uncommongoods1

Mother’s Day is Sunday, May 11th this year. If you’re prone to forgetting, then why not buy your gift ahead of time? This week, I’m happy to be working with UncommonGoods on a selection of products perfect for yo momma. They offer a bevy of items like jewelry, artwork, gardening tools, and baking supplies, that appeal to a wide range of tastes.

As I went through their collection, I couldn’t help but pick out things I’d want to buy my own mom (and probably will — so mom, try and act surprised!). She enjoys making sweets, like decorating sugar cookies for all the major holidays. Gardening and plants are also another of her interests, so a terrarium is perfect (we had one growing up!). And, my mom is a fan of illustrated products, so the colorful dish towels caught my eye. See some more of my favorites below!

Click on the product and you’ll be directed to the UncommonGoods website. And, let me know what you’re getting your mom for Mother’s Day!
