El Grio Paints Banal Objects from the 1980’s & 90’s

I’m excit­ed by the depic­tion of every­day objects. I find their rec­og­niz­able forms com­fort­ing. As some­one who loves bold shape design, I also love the sim­ple, graph­ic nature of El Gri­o’s work. His sub­jects aren’t the most rous­ing, but when he adds his own touch — like  his char­ac­ter­i­za­tion of the Trix Bun­ny, for instance — it infus­es the objects with his visu­al lan­guage and opinions.
