Time Travel Tuesday: Mary Blair, again

Long before the inception of this blog, I’ve been in love with Mary Blair. Over the years I’ve featured her work a couple of times. I never tire of it! It’s beautiful, colorful, adorable, and makes for great tattoos (I know from first hand experience). She was one of the first illustrators I became obsessed with, and her shape design and pattern-pairing is still something I refer to this day.

You’ve no doubt seen Mary Blair’s work around. She lefter her legacy with early Disney animations, working on concept art for Dumbo, an early version of Lady and the Tramp, and a second version of Fantasia (the one released in the 1990’s). In addition, she did work for advertising and Golden Books.

I found all of the following images via Denki-Mirai, which had a bit of Mary Blair’s later works. These are less tight, more expressive, and less innocent than work of before.
