“I work ‘old school,'” illustrator Lihie Jacob writes, “meaning that all of my illustrations are hand painted and digitalized by scanning.”
This handcrafted touch results in visually satisfying compositions in which brush strokes and textures add another dimension to her animal characters. Their design—and personalities—are charming, as Lihie fills her compositions with a vibrant cast. Her bird illustrations, in particular, are my favorite. She’s highlighted jovial toucans, sleepy owls, and side-eyeing turkeys. Arranged as a crowded group, you’ve got to spend some time with these illustrations. The longer you look, you discover more and more quirks that make these pieces a delight.
All of these illustrations are calendars that Lihie releases each year.
